Welcome back to our weekly newsletter. I always look forward to these because it’s where I catch the stuff that actually changes how I work—new tools, new automations, and a few ideas I can test right away.
Here are the updates that caught my eye this week:
- ChatGPT
- ChatGPT desktop now supports 30+ applications. The big difference (at least in my experience) is that it’s not just “talking” anymore—it can actually see what’s on your screen, understand what you’re trying to do, and then automate the steps across apps. That’s the part that feels genuinely useful—like, you’re not hunting for the right workflow yourself every time.
- Is it perfect? No. But the direction is clear: more “do the task” and less “tell me what to do.”
- Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking
- Google’s rolling out an experimental reasoning model called Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking—positioned as competition for OpenAI’s o1. What I’m curious about is how “fast thinking” shows up in real prompts: fewer weird detours, quicker answers, and better step-by-step reasoning when you ask for planning, code, or structured output.
- Meta’s Movie Gen
- If you use Instagram, this one’s worth keeping an eye on. Meta’s Movie Gen is being teased as a way to change parts of videos using prompts—think editing backgrounds, adjusting elements, and generally making “prompt-to-edit” feel more normal.
- Honestly, this is the type of feature that either saves hours… or turns into a frustrating guessing game. I’ll wait to see how reliable it is before getting too excited.
Here are some fresh tools I’d actually consider trying. I’m focusing on ones that seem practical, not just “cool demos.”
- Lido– Count PDFs and build simple Excel tables from plain English, or use boxes to select the data with AI.
- InstaInfluencer– Generate AI influencer clips with adjustable characters and dialogues—useful if you’re testing content ideas fast.
- Softgen– Turn an idea into a working web app with AI (not just a mockup).
- Apply AI– Draft resumes and cover letters tailored to specific roles and even specific application systems.
- SubtitleGen– Create subtitles and translations quickly—great if you publish internationally.
- ShowHype– Turn links into more engaging video content with AI.
- InterviewSim– Practice interviews with realistic scenarios and targeted feedback.
- HiCall– A smart helper for missed/dropped calls that helps you avoid losing important messages.
- cc:Monet– Track money, manage costs, and generate reports without the usual spreadsheet pain.
- Sourdough Baker AI– Send photos of your bread and get feedback on rise, crust, and overall results.
- Exam Maker AI– Generate personalized multiple-choice quizzes from text, PDFs, pictures, or even YouTube clips.
- Zappo AI– Create UGC-style videos with AI performers, sound, and images in about 15 minutes.
- Trustero AI– Help with safety and policy/rules compliance using clearer, more actionable guidance.
- Biolysis– Boost lab productivity by handling big data faster and aiming for precise results.
Try this today—if you’ve been stuck on content planning, this should get you unstuck fast:
"Create a comprehensive and actionable strategy for [your niche] that includes the following elements: target audience identification, key messaging, content creation ideas, platform-specific tactics (for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, etc.), engagement techniques, SEO best practices, and performance metrics to measure success. Additionally, provide examples of successful campaigns or initiatives in [your niche] and any tools or resources that can assist in implementation."
